Tour Overview

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Umbwe Route is one of the most challenging yet rewarding ways to summit this iconic peak. If you're looking for an adventurous experience, this route offers incredible views of the mountain, dense forests, and dramatic high-altitude landscapes. The 6-day trek with Prehemy Tours allows you to gradually ascend from lower altitudes to the summit of Kilimanjaro, experiencing both the physical challenge and breathtaking beauty along the way.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Umbwe Gate (1,600m) – Umbwe Camp (2,850m)

Your journey begins at the Umbwe Gate, where you will receive a briefing and complete necessary paperwork. The first day's trek involves a steep climb through lush rainforest. The trail is challenging but rewarding, offering spectacular views. You'll camp at Umbwe Camp, located at 2,850 meters, where you'll rest for the night.

Day 2: Umbwe Camp (2,850m) – Barranco Camp (3,950m)

Today, you’ll ascend to Barranco Camp, situated at 3,950 meters. The route is longer, but the views are incredible. The Barranco Camp is located at the foot of the famous Barranco Wall, a towering rock formation that offers both a scenic challenge and an iconic Kilimanjaro experience.

Day 3: Barranco Camp (3,950m) – Karanga Camp (3,995m)

This day’s trek takes you across the Barranco Wall, a fascinating rock scramble. You’ll then continue to Karanga Camp, which sits at 3,995 meters. This part of the trek offers stunning views of the mountain's glaciers and other geological features.

Day 4: Karanga Camp (3,995m) – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

The trek continues as you ascend to Barafu Camp at 4,673 meters. This is the last camp before the summit. The terrain becomes more rugged as you near the high-altitude zone. The night is spent at Barafu Camp, where you’ll rest and prepare for your summit attempt.

Day 5: Barafu Camp (4,673m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Today is the big day! You'll start the summit attempt early in the morning to reach the summit of Uhuru Peak, 5,895 meters above sea level. The climb is long and challenging, but reaching the summit is a moment of triumph. After celebrating the achievement, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp at 3,100 meters to rest.

Day 6: Mweka Camp (3,100m) – Mweka Gate (1,640m)

On the final day, you’ll descend through the forest to the Mweka Gate. The descent is easier, and upon arrival, you’ll receive your summit certificate to commemorate your successful climb.
